Wen Yin (Elaine) Cheng

Wen Yin (Elaine) Cheng is a Ph.D. candidate in East Asian Studies at the University of Toronto. She received her BA from Laurentian University and MSc from University College London in archaeometry. Her current research is on Shang bronze casting moulds housed at the Royal Ontario Museum. In her study, she incorporated various areas of archaeology from her previous experiences and incorporated new concepts from the East Asian Study to include historical records. 

Since starting her Ph.D. research, she has been actively presenting at conferences and chairing sessions on Chinese technology and teaching as a course instructor at the University of Toronto. 

She is a fellow of the Connaught PhDs for the Public Impact Fellowship Program. A program that allowed her to expand her current research to collaborate with the Royal Ontario Museum, indigenous artisans, and minority artisans regarding the discussion of their ancestral artifacts. This project is part of my commitment to truth and reconciliation and share my academic research and knowledge with the public.
