The Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library (EAL)
Holding more than 500,000 volumes, the EAL is considered one of the major research collections in North America. It has a comprehensive collection of East Asian bibliographies, indexes, biographies, encyclopedias, dictionaries, yearbooks and other reference tools. The EAL public computers have Chinese, Japanese and Korean software for reading of information in those languages on the internet.
The Asian Institute
Housed in the Munk School of Global Affairs, the Institute offers a lively array of lectures, workshops and conferences each year. The Institute’s objective is to bring together scholars, students and community members in order to deepen our collective understanding of one of the world’s most dynamic regions.

Collaborative MA Program in Asia Pacific Studies
The Collaborative MA Program is offered by the graduate departments of Anthropology, East Asian Studies, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, and Sociology. The Collaborative M.B.A. is offered by the Rotman School of Management.
The David Chu Program
The David Chu Program in Asia-Pacific Studies is a multidisciplinary program designed for students pursuing careers requiring expertise in contemporary Asia-Pacific languages and societies.
The Richard Charles Lee Canada-Hong Kong Library
The Richard Charles Lee Canada-Hong Kong Library features a unique research collection on Canada-Hong Kong studies, quiet study spaces, and seminar areas. It provides resources and space to accommodate the continuous growth of research interest in Hong Kong and its relation to Canada and other regions in the world.
Centre for the Study of Korea
The Centre for the Study of Korea was established in the fall of 2006 with the goal of promoting critical approaches to the research of Korea. The centre also aims to develop pedagogical materials for teaching about Korea both in the university and to the public. It welcomes participation from members of the university community as well as communities throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
Local Resources for East Asian Studies
Royal Ontario Museum (ROM)
The Department of World Cultures at the ROM curates and exhibits a world-class collection related to East Asia. Dr. Chen Shen, Senior Curator at the ROM, teaches courses for the department in East Asian archeology.
The Japan Foundation (Kokusai Koryu Kikin)
The Japan Foundation was founded in 1972 as a non-profit, special legal entity in order to further international mutual understanding through the promotion of cultural exchange between Japan and other countries.
The JET Programme
The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme invites university graduates from over 40 countries to participate in internationalization activities and foreign language education through Japan. Established in 1987, the JET Programme has earned an excellent reputation for its efforts in human and cultural exchange programmes in Japan.
Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto
The Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto (CCC) is a non-profit, non-political organization with an objective to build a Chinese cultural centre for residents of the Greater Toronto area. With its grand opening on May 2, 1998, the centre is part of a multi-purpose community complex located at the south east corner of Sheppard Avenue East and Progress Avenue in Scarborough.
