The Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Toronto invites applications for a three-year, contractually limited term appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in the field of Japanese language. The appointment will begin on August 1, 2016 and end on July 31, 2019.

Applicants should have a PhD or at minimum an MA in Japanese language education or a closely related field with substantial experience and proven excellence in teaching Japanese as a second/foreign language at the post-secondary level. Native or near native fluency is expected in Japanese together with an excellent command of English. Evidence of excellence in teaching as demonstrated by a strong teaching dossier, teaching evaluations, and strong endorsements from referees as part of the application.

The successful candidate will teach courses in the Japanese language at any assigned levels (first through fourth years) and assist with other activities in the Japanese Language Program.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
