Professor Guisso’s research fields include: Early and Mediaeval Chinese History; Gender History in China, Japan, and Korea. He has published books on Wu Zetian, The First

Emperor; Women in China; and most recently, In the Inner Quarters, a translation in collaboration with Lenny Hu, (Arsenal Pulp Press, 2003), which is the winner of Best Book in the Category of Erotica, Americal Association of Independent Publishers.
