 nguage (CFL) classrooms. They outline the ladders in language acquisition\
 , lay out the details in accumulative practice, provide tools and materia
 ls for assessment and much more. Even though the role of the textbooks is 
 never challenged, the recent pedagogical trends toward task-based teachin
 g and technology-assisted individualized learning have opened up new discu
 ssions over the future forms, content, and design of the CFL textbooks. 
 This panel brings together scholar-teachers in leading Canadian Chinese La
 nguage Programs to explore the paths toward the next generation CFL textbo
 oks. The topics discussed include but not limited to improving learners’ l
 istening skills, incorporating AI technology, CFL cultural contexts in C
 anada, intercultural designs, and Classical Chinese in advanced Chinese
