Reverend Doctor James Scarth Gale Scholarship in East Asian Studies

The Reverend Doctor James Scarth Gale Scholarship in East Asian Studies was established thanks to a gift from the estate of George J.M. Gale.

The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit to an undergraduate or graduate student, in support of his or her study or research in East Asian countries (China, Japan, Korea, etc.)

To apply, please submit your application in an envelope with your name and the fellowship to which you are applying to the Department by April 1, 2014. Your application must include:

  • A cover letter
  • Your study or research plan
  • A printout of your ROSI academic history
  • A letter of recommendation from your supervisor or instructor in the course related to your study/research plan. This letter must be included in your application envelope in a sealed envelope with the author’s signature over the seal.
